Baby at 4 weeks

Now your body is producing high level of HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) in the morning. This happens after conception. High level of HCG is necessary to sustain pregnancy. Also high level of HCG makes the pregnancy test read positive.

Development

At 4 weeks cells are dividing and multiplying rapidly and three layers of cells are formed.

These are called ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm.

Ectoderm (outer layer) develops into brain, nervous system, skin, hair, teeth and nail.

Mesoderm (middle layer) develops into bones, muscles, heart, blood vessels and reproductive organs.

Endoderm (inner layer) develops into digestive system, liver, bladder and lungs

Appearance

Round cluster of cells now appear a leaner in shape.
