Preparing For Your Newborn

Arrival of a newborn baby in the family brings with it a series of new experiences for the new parents. From taking care of the baby to bathing and feeding, everything is done with excitement and extra care. A perfect way of delivering your baby with a proper care would be to make a checklist of baby care items and precautions beforehand. This article will help you acquaint with some of the facts that you may need to deliver a proper newborn care.

Newborn Baby Hygiene

The first and the foremost step to ensure the baby’s proper care relates to ensuring the proper hygiene. Remember, that newborns are very sensitive towards infection, so it is important to keep everything hygienic.

* Often babies cry when you change their diaper this is due to the cold wipes, so use warmer wipes during diaper change.
* Always keep extra bottles and nipples ready. Make sure to sterilize the bottles and nipples twice a day in boiling water.
* Also, wash the bottles and nipples after every feeding. Use a bottlebrush to properly clean the bottles.
* Use disposable changing pads to keep the mess away. You can’t stop the baby from messing the diaper or pad and continuing with the same pad is not a great idea, instead use disposable pads and diapers.
* While changing diapers, place the baby on a clean table or bed with all the required things nearby, so that the baby doesn’t remain exposed to dirt and moisture in the atmosphere.

Baby’s Bed and Play Timing

It’s very essential to tune in the baby’s bedtime and play time. In the first few weeks and months, a baby generally wakes at night and sleeps during the day. So, here are some tips for adjusting baby’s bed and play timing:
* Use musical toys because babies love music as it soothes them. Try using calm music lullabies and rhymes for soothing your baby.
* Babies love motion and sleep soon when slept in a moving swing. You can either place them in a swing or make a swinging action while placing baby in your hands.
* Baby gym is a great toy to develop the coordination and motor skills of a newborn baby. Playing in it, baby also burns energy and sleeps soon.
* While feeding the baby during bedtime, try to sit on a rocking chair or a glider to make the baby feel sleepy with the movement.

Traveling Care For A Newborn Baby

While at home, there is a lot you can do for proper care of your newly born. The challenge is to ensure the same care while traveling. So, here are some tips to deliver proper baby care while traveling:

* Use a car seat carrier cover to protect the seat from getting wet in case the baby urinates. These covers are made of water-resistant fabrics.
* Use a jogging stroller if you want to take your baby along while you go for jogging. These strollers are made to be taken on rough terrains.
* Use a car seat protector, which is placed right under the baby’s car seat to protect the upholstery of the car.
